Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving – What does it mean?
To give thanks for all the blessings we have seen.
Does that mean just from this one to the last?
I think it goes much further into the past.
The fact that we were born –
That we have a beautiful Earth,
And most important –
The fact of our dear Savior's Birth.
The Pilgrims gave thanks to God,
For the bountiful harvest that they had reaped
And for all the blessings on them that He had heaped.
That is good and we must not fail to do this too
But we must also look deeper and give Him His just due,
For all the burdens and problems He's helped us out
And for all the healings and deliverances He has brought about.
We must also thank him with all our hearts
That He made us whole,
That through His Son Jesus Christ
He saved our very soul.
The blessings are endless
And our thanks should be too,
Not just on Thanksgiving Day
But the whole year through.
